# Some facts#

• The basic unit for expressing dimensionless quantities in the SI system is one uno:
$1 U = 1 = \dfrac{1}{1} = 100 \%$
• In practice, however, SI units are rarely used for this purpose in favor of traditional units, often developed for the needs of a given field, e.g.:
• percent ($\mathrlap{\it{/}}{^0}_{\,0}$) - equal to one hundredth of the whole ($\frac{1}{100}$), used in many fields such as finance (e.g. interest rate on deposits) or chemistry (e.g. concentration of solutions), you can find more about percentages in our other calculator: Percentage
• permile ($\mathrlap{\it{/}}{^0}_{\,00}$) - equal to one thousandth of the whole ($\frac{1}{1000}$), used, for example, when determining the alcohol concentration in the blood,
• basis point ($\mathrlap{\it{/}}{^0}_{\,000}$) - equal to one ten-thousandth of the whole ($\frac{1}{10000}$), used in economics and accounting,
• pip (percentage in point) - equal to one ten-thousandth of the whole ($\frac{1}{10000}$), used to determine the change in exchange rates on foreign exchange markets (so-called FOREX),
• tick size - equal to one thirty-second ($\frac{1}{32}\%$) or one six-quarter ($\frac{1}{64}\%$, so-called tick plus) of the percent, used when determining fluctuations bond rates on the US stock exchange,
• ppm (parts per million) - equal to one millionth of the total ($\frac{1}{1000000}$), used in the natural sciences to determine very small concentrations, analogous units are also used such as ppb (parts per billion), ppq (parts per quantillion) etc.

# How to convert#

• Enter the number to field "value" - enter the NUMBER only, no other words, symbols or unit names. You can use dot (.) or comma (,) to enter fractions.
Examples:
• 1000000
• 123,23
• 999.99999
• Find and select your starting unit in field "unit". Some unit calculators have huge number of different units to select from - it's just how complicated our world is...
• And... you got the result in the table below. You'll find several results for many different units - we show you all results we know at once. Just find the one you're looking for.
