Some facts#

  • This calculator generates periodic signal sound with given frequency.
  • Sound with specified frequency is called tone.
  • This calculator generates signal in form:
    A×f(t×Tf)A \times f\left(t \times \dfrac{T}{f}\right)
    where:
    • A - amplitude of signal, simplifying: a volume of a sound,
    • f - one of periodic function e.g. sine, sawtooth etc.,
    • T - period of f function, it's a constant characteristic for selected function,
    • f - sound frequency,
    • t - time.
  • Depending on selected periodic function we get signals with different shapes e.g.
    • sine,
    • sawtooth,
    • square,
    • triangle,
    • etc.

What is the meaning of each calculator field ?#

  • Frequency - sound frequency in hertz,
  • amplitude - real number in the range 0 to 1, specifies the volume of the sound,
  • waveform type - periodic function used to generate the sound: sine, sawtooth function, triangular, square etc.
